I am generally a fan of what you post here but am in disagreement on what ICE is doing. I am a Republican voter and some of what Trump has done I appreciate. Our culture was going in the wrong direction and his presidency managed to turn the tide somewhat (despite his doing many other stupid and destructive things like tariffs). But I hate these deportations.

Yes, we should manage illegal immigration going forward, but for the people who are already here illegally but are otherwise law-abiding I don't want them ripped from their homes and families. And ICE agents are just poorly trained thugs. This is one of the very few topics on which I side w/protesters, who normally I hate.

I can understand that position. It’s my understanding the ones being detained pending an immigration hearing are wanted for crimes. I agree that if that’s not the case, maybe start the process for them to become citizens. Love that idea.

My take generally has less to do with what we believe should or should not happen. It has to do with law. And as it stands, federal law, Supreme Court precedent, and the US Constitution make the current operation legal. And our choices for dissent cannot include violence. They include peacefully protesting on location and at the voting booth.
