An immense move forward in my recovery came once I finally began to EXPERIENCE not just know intellectually the personal love and care of God FOR ME. This experience has come firstly through the steadfast and steady relationship that I have with my therapist and after that through some very specific ways God has shown himself either through some of his people or directly to me.
There are layers to all of this for me, as with most of us. But to your point, being able to know {in my bones} that God delights in me is vital to my own sense of being "enough."
Maybe you can tell your wife that she’s working on being enough, this way it’s not a hard no and a work in progress, isn’t that what we’re all doing anyway?
I think we feel enough because our mothers focused everything on mothering and homemaking to help our father's on the home front.
However, feminism has pushed hard to drive women insane so they resent and reject their vocation of devotion of matrimonium, so they're emotionally and physically absent when children attach to their mother and then the world.
Hence today most people feel the world is chaotic, cold, and dangerous.
